Glamour Retouching

02. Removing Imperfections

Very few models have a complete smooth skin. I would even dare to say that most amateur models don't have that look-a-like-baby-skin we often see in glamour photo's.

Of course good make-up can camouflage a lot. But we haven't all the financial means to pay someone to take care of that.

In this first step we will see how we can remove large blemishes like acne and the like from their skin.

Well, actually it's fairly simple. Photoshop has given us the perfect tool to do this. It's called the Patch Tool.

The patch tool will mainly copy the structure of the new area. This is different than the clone stamp which copies both structure and color/tone which makes it much more difficult to retouch and area. Some use the healing brush for this, but I can't seem to find my way with this tool.

Underneath you'll see the working of this tool.

Step 1 : Circle with the patch tool around the blemish. Make sure you zoom in enough to 'catch' the blemish properly.

step 2 : Drag the blemish to a 'clean' area. It's very important that the structure of the new skin match the structure around the blemish as much as possible.

step 3 : The result

We can do the whole skin in this way and will end up with something like this :
