04. Correcting Large Highlights
When the highlights are to big to use the Patch Tool or Clone Stamp (read : not enough structure around the highlights available to clone) we can try to bring some details back by using the multiply mode. This situation occurs typical on the forehead, especially when the model has sweat a little.
1. Typical highlights on the forehead
2. Duplicate the layer
3. Set blending mode to multiply
4. Add a black layer mask
5. Paint the multiplied layer back with a large soft white brush
6. Most of the times you'll overdo it a little, so lower the opacity
Note : the disadvantage of the multiply blending mode is that it will saturate the color a little. So be aware of that. A possible solution to this is to desaturate the image a little with an adjustment layer and copy the layer mask to this adjustment layer too. In this way the desaturation will only occur where the multiplied layer is visible.
